| Cliff Walton | |||
| Head Football Coach/Offensive Coordinator | |||
The
2007 football season marks Coach Cliff Walton’s 27th season as Head Coach of the Hawken Hawks and 30th season being associated with one of Northeastern Ohio’s
more storied programs. Coach Walton has an impressive coaching resume at
Hawken which spans three decades during which time he has elevated Hawken
to the elite levels of high school football. |

Cliff Walton has been a member of the Hawken Faculty since 1978, where he has taught Physical Education and Health. He is currently the Department Chair for Physical Education. In addition to his football duties, Cliff was formerly head wrestling coach at Hawken and serves as a faculty advisor to students. Cliff also has also served as head of the Hawken Day Camp Summer Sports Camp. A native Clevelander, Cliff attended Lutheran East High School where he was a star running back. He continued his football excellence at Concordia University (IL). Upon graduating, he returned to his alma mater Lutheran East where he taught Physical Education and coached football. |

| Gary Moses | |||
| Assistant Head Football Coach/Defensive Coordinator | |||
Gary Moses enters his 24th year on the football coaching staff at Hawken. Gary
has been instrumental in the success of the Hawken program and has been
Coach Walton’s trusted assistant throughout Hawken Football’s rise to prominence.
One of Gary’s greatest attributes has been his coaching versatility. During his
time at Hawken, he has coached virtually every position including Running Backs,
Wide Receivers and the Offensive Line. He has been the Defensive Coordinator for
over two decades.
Gary’s defenses are known for their aggressive style, often blitzing from every conceivable position and angle. Gary has also demonstrated expertise in breaking down opponent game film and is often found scouting future Hawken opponents on Friday nights. Gary and his wife Vicki are the parents of Kelly and Greg and reside in Lyndhurst. Gary is a graduate of Charles F. Brush High School. Professionally, Gary is the owner of Moses Plastering, a drywall and insulating business. |

| Ken McClintock | |||
| Offensive Line/Secondary Coach | |||

Ken McClintock is the Offensive Line and Secondary coach for the Hawks. A resident of
Chagrin Falls, Ken is a graduate of nearby Kenston High School. After a star career on
the gridiron at Kenston, Ken played college football for the Big Ten’s Minnesota Golden
Gophers from 1989-1992. Among his accomplishments at Minnesota were winning the Bobby
Bell Award for outstanding special teams play in 1991 and the Paul Giel Award for
unselfishness and most concern about the University of Minnesota in 1992.
After his playing career, Ken went on to coach at Minnesota before joining the coaching staff at Southwest Texas State. Upon returning to Cleveland, Ken joined the upper-school faculty at Hawken teaching Physical Education. |

| Donald Gries | |||
| Special Teams Coach/Defensive Line | |||
Don Gries coaches the Special Teams and the Defensive Line for the Hawks. Don comes from
a Hawken family, and Don himself attended the Hawken Lower School. In addition to
assistant duties on the football staff, Don is the head coach and “father” of Hawken Lacrosse.
Having starting the Lacrosse program in just 1999, the Gries-led 2002 team went 18-1 and won a Division III State Championship. Don resides in Shaker Heights and has a son and daughter who currently attend Hawken Lower School. |

Dan Walton coaches Quarterbacks and Defensive Backs for the Hawks, and
is instrumental in the overall Offensive game-planning. Dan is a Hawken “Lifer” and
was the starting quarterback for Hawken during the 1995 season. Dan
is a graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Upon graduating Dan joined the faculty at the Hawken Lower School, teaching Physical Education. Dan also is the head wrestling coach at Hawken Lower School. Dan is the son of head coach Cliff Walton, and his two brothers Scott and Jeff were also Hawken Quarterbacks in the 1990’s. Dan resides in Lyndhurst, Ohio. |

| Wesley “Wes” Wilson | |||
| Offensive and Defensive Line Coach | |||
The 2007 season marks the first year on the coaching staff for Wes Wilson. Wilson is no stranger to Hawken Football, however, having been an All-Ohio first team Offensive Lineman in 1999 and 2000 for the Hawks and second team All-Ohio in 1998. Wes was also a standout in track and field for Hawken, excelling in the discus and shot put. After graduating from Hawken in 2001, Wes attended the University of Virginia where he went on to join the football team. Wes will be teaching biology at Hawken Upper School. |

| Alan “Al” MacCracken | |||
| Hawken Football Announcer and Statistician | |||

Alan
MacCracken has been on the Hawken faculty for over four decades. He currently
teaches French at the Upper School. Alan attended Hawken
Lower School before completing his high school education at Western
Reserve Academy.
Alan has coached, announced games, and kept official statistics stats for parts of at least 40 years. Alan’s son Trip was the starting quarterback for the 1990 and 1991 Hawken playoff teams, and was the New Herald’s Geauga County Player of the Year in 1991. Alan has been an instrumental part of the success of the Hawken program during his distinguished tenure. |
